South Dakota surprisingly (at least to me) has a lot I want to see. This is part 1 because we really only hit the east coast of the state this time. We will hit the west coast (Mount Rushmore and surrounding areas in a week or so.
What we saw:
80 miles per hour speed limits!
a gas station that was also a casino (very common) for over an hour trying to figure out why or sunroof wasn't sealing only for me to open the door, have the wind catch it and swing it open so hard it broke our gas spring... which I now know that it's called a gas spring. My google search to find the part shows my complete lack of knowledge ("part on door to keep it from swinging open", "long skinny piece on door," "why is the door holder piece made out of cheap plastic" haha)
Camping World- to replace my oopsie- easy fix- glad Camping World was right there. Bonus- staff was very helpful and they're dog friendly! Good thing my husband has a big brain- lol we couldn't stop laughing at the picture of his head. I have no idea why his head looks so big lol
3. Falls Park- This was a great 30 minute stop. I wanted to eat at the cafe that overlooked the falls, but due to my inability to hold the door tightly we missed it because they closed at 3.
4. DTSF- Downtown Sioux Falls Woodgrain Brewing- dog friendly both inside and on the patio. They had a lot of IPAs if you're into that. Their rainbow sherbet sour beer was pretty amazing. Parking was easy on a pretty wide road with meters. Also, it's very convenient to walk to the Arc of Dreams as well as tons of highly reviewed restaurants. The Arc of Dreams was fine during the day, but I think it's meant to be seen at night when it's lit up.
Devil's Gulch- Legend says that Jesse James was running away from police and with his horse he jumped this gulch. Experts still argue if it's even possible, which I guess is why it's a story still told. Really we just stopped here because they had a free dump and free water site for us. So, we're good to go for another 10-14 days!
PS-Which harness is Lucy sporting?
LOL...John's head looks like a Cone Head in that one photo! Now I can't quit laughing. Did you ever figure out the problem with the sunroof?
