I didn't know what to expect with Wisconsin, but really loved it. We spent 3 days here and saw 3 very different areas: Green Bay, Door County, and Milwaukee.
Green Bay: I don't know about you, but I thought Green Bay would be a much more happening city since the Packers play here. Maybe I missed something, but that looked to be about the only thing really there. It rained pretty good, so found a Cabela's and stayed the day and night. It was a really nice down day.
Door County: Not a lot of action, but beautiful views. Several people recommended it, so we went. We went to Cave Point County Park because it was free and had pretty views. There are trails, but the views you see in these pics are right by the parking. The downtown Sturgeon Bay is right on the canal. Not a lot was going on when we were there, but we found a pizza food truck which was perfect left overs during our rainy down day!
Milwaukee: Yay for free city parking on the back side of Milwaukee Brewing (free 5 hours on Saturday on the street until 6). We went in to check it out. The building was really nice and decorated for a wedding on one side. The taproom was open and dog friendly. Lucy made A LOT of friends. Then it was off to find cheese curds. Old World 3rd Street was walkable and had a bunch of restaurants with outdoor seating. Buck Bradley's Saloon and Eatery is famous for being the longest bar this side of the Mississippi. It looked like a bar haha. We ended up getting cheese curds at the Old German Beer Hall, which turns out is just Hofbrauhaus like we have in St. Pete. Oops. Cheese curds were very salty. I probably should have gotten them somewhere else too to compare, but there's only so much fried cheese I can eat in a day- I know, I'm shocked that I said that too. Then, no trip to Milwaukee would be complete without a picture with the statue of Gambrinus, King of Beer at the historic Pabst Brewery in the courtyard of the Best Place Tavern. You can tour the building for $10 I think, but we just sat in the courtyard. We never crossed the river, but I would definitely go back and check out the other side of the city.
What a great mix of country views and city living! Thanks, Wisconsin!
